Jasvinder’s approach to Senior Mental Health
As a Registered Occupational Therapist and Registered Psychotherapist with 28 years in the field — including her current role as Senior Mental Health Consultant at UHN Geriatric Psychiatry — Jasvinder understands that mental health and daily function are inseparable. She treats the whole person: mind, body, meaningful activity, and the relationships that make life worth living.
Why Group Therapy is Especially Powerful for Seniors
Research confirms that group psychotherapy is as effective as individual therapy for many conditions — and for older adults facing isolation, it offers something one-on-one sessions cannot: human connection. A 2018 peer-reviewed systematic review (PubMed, PMID 29933137) found that group CBT and reminiscence therapy significantly outperform control conditions in reducing geriatric depression. Our groups are built on exactly this evidence.
